First National Bank (FNB) fund Bursary Schoolgist.co.za

The First National Bank Fund Bursary Programme is a bursary that provides tertiary education access for qualified but financially disadvantaged students. To cover other expenses cannot be paid by the FNB bursary, students are thus allowed to have other sources of funding through the Financial Aid Office of their university of choice from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Commerce, Science or Engineering are the accepted fields of study for this bursary programme.

FNB Fun Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

  • Good academic standing
  • Proven financial need
  • Less than two years matric/NSC completion
  • South African citizens
  • Females, applicants in rural and historically disadvantaged communities as well as people with disability will be given preference
  • Full time students who are registered for undergraduate studies, except for Honours in Accounting which must include courses to enable the student to qualify as a Chartered Accountant
  • Only applicants who have obtained the following marks in the June/ final examination of their Grade 12 year will be considered:
    • B Com/ B Business Science:
      • Minimum of 60% in Mathematics
      • Minimum of 60% in English
    • Engineering:
      • Minimum of 60% in Mathematics
      • Minimum of 60% in English
      • Minimum of 60% in Physical Science
    • BSc:
      • Minimum of 60% in Mathematics
      • Minimum of 60% in English
      • Minimum of 60% in Physical Science

How to Apply and Application Details

  • You need to apply online through the Online Application Feature.
  • Accompany your application with the following certified copies of required documents:
    • Mid-year/June examination results
    • Latest exam results together with an explanation of what you are currently doing, if not studying this year
    • Matric/NSC results together with latest tertiary (June) results
    • Two testimonials: One from a responsible educational official (principal or lecturer) and the other by a community, political or spiritual leader. Use the testimonial forms in the application form or attach suitable testimonials.
    • Write an essay about your life which must be written by you, on the page included. Use additional pages if necessary. Your parent, guardian or friend may write a letter of recommendation.
    • Proof of household income (payslip, letter from employer, sworn statement or tax return statement).
    • South African ID
